LEGISLATIVE POLICIES

On 8 February 2013, the CALAFCO Board of Directors adopted updated Legislative Policies for the Association. Policies were adopted in the following areas:

     -   LAFCo Purpose and Authority
     -   LAFCo Organization
     -   Agricultural and Open Space Protection
     -   Orderly Growth
     -   Service Delivery and Local Agency Effectiveness

The Board also established Legislative Priorities for 2013, which will be reviewed again on 3 May, 2013. Those include:

    Primary Issues

     -   Viability of Local Services
      -  Authority of LAFCo
     -   Agricultural and Open Space Protection
     -   Water Availability

    Issues of Interest

     -   Housing
     -   Transportation
     -   Flood Control
     -   Adequate Municipal Services in Inhabited Territory
