Board Approves Language for JPA filings with LAFCo
Earlier this year the CALAFCO Board of Directors, following the recommendation of the Legislative Committee, approved language that proposes certain stand-alone joint power authorities file their agreements and agreement amendments with LAFCo when they file with the Secretary of State.
The proposal enhances the timely documentation and facilitation of shared public services. This filing with LAFCo allows LAFCo to be informed in a more direct and timely way on JPA activities, allowing the LAFCo to be better positioned in working with local agencies to promote new and expanded shared services that produce more accountable and efficient government.
This language has been updated to reflect changes made as a result of the most recent Legislative Committee meeting and those requested by Legislative Counsel.
